義 Expounded

lamb + me = 義

The blog is named after the chinese character,  (yi4), which carries the meaning of Right Conduct, Righteousness and Morality. Apart from the noble connotations of the word, Pastor Mark further expounded gospel truths from this character which has blessed me tremendously.

According to Wikitionary, the ideogrammic compound of the word  is made up of  (lamb) +  (me). Wikitionary suggests that the etymology of the word is “A hand, holding a spear, protecting a sheep. It’s common sense that protect the weaklings is a righteous behavior.”

義

Pastor Mark however, has further expounded the meaning behind the word in his sermon ‘Get a wider perspective when you know the Gospel’, and this is the transcript:

In Galations 3:27: For as many of you who were baptised into Christ, you have PUT ON Christ. Have put on Christ. Have. Has it been done? Yes…

… in the chinese word, in the word of righteousness,  (lamb) is the word on top, the lamb of God. Jesus is called the lamb of God, to come to this world to take away the Sin of this world. He is the lamb sacrifice for us. And below is the word  (me), do you know that when you put on the lamb of God what the word becomes? It becomes .

Which means when you are baptized into Christ you actually PUT ON the lamb of God. You are already righteous, .

With this revelation, new insights are gained through the meanings of the word 義. When we PUT ON the lamb of God (to have Jesus in our lives), not only are we righteous but we also attain right conduct and morality. As mentioned by Pastor Prince, “Right Believing leads to Right Living”… and I believe this to be true.

This is the story/meaning behind the name of the blog and I hope it blesses you.
